Rick Ross “The Boss” has been the topic on the blogs and across the radio airwaves over the last several months. If it was not for being exposed as a former correctional officer then it was the drama filled beef between himself and fellow 'bawse" 50 cent.

Even after all the mayhem, Rick Ross was still able to weather the storm with a successful album, "Deeper Than Rap" which made the Billboard #1 for best first week sales. Now even after all this controversy, Ross has managed to make the news again by shooting a music video in Medellin, Columbia. For those that are not familiar with the region, Medellin is Columbia's hotbed for cocaine creation and distribution and most known for the infamy notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. I don't if Ross has just read 'The Accountants Story' (A biography of Pablo Escobar's life) or just watched the movie 'Blow' for the first time but to shoot a video in Medellin is a bold move.

During a time when Ross has been under scrutiny for a long time for promoting fraudulentness it seems like a bad move to shoot this video. First off, using the name of a real former drug dealer with absolutely no relation to himself or his crew was suspect. Second, Ross has admitted on Black Entertainment Television to being a former correctional officer in Florida; two cardinal sins in the urban environment.

We must not forget, Columbia is a very poor nation that has various guerrilla faction and it is easy to estimate that the film crew was at extreme risk of harm. Rick Ross seems as if he wants to be on the cover of popular street chronicle magazines like, Don Diva or F.E.D.S. Magazine but not as a rapper. According to MTV.Com, Ross had to lie to his record label and his film crew to convince them to shoot the music video in Medellin. The song the video was shot for is called “Rich Off Cocaine” ft Avery Storm, and he had had to convince Avery Storm to do the video and we hear that he was very apprehensive at first. The video is great and the song is sure be one of those summer classics, however, I hope Ross can come to reality and just make music. Many fans on the blogs believe that Ross sometimes goes overboard with proving his street credibility. Too bad props is not as a popular as it used to be. So all of this at a time when people can care less.
